First Things First...

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage!

Marriage is a holy union which is intended to last a lifetime. It is an honor to assist couples with the planning of not only their marriage ceremony but also their life together.

To that end, the Pastor provides pre-marriage counseling which allows for conversation that focuses on the couples’ relationship strengths and possible growth areas. It is understood that couples will complete these four sessions with the Pastor prior to the wedding.

We understand the marriage ceremony to be a worship experience during which we call upon the presence of God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to sustain the marriage relationship. The service itself will utilize the wording approved by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, including prayers and the scripture chosen by the couple.

While we welcome officiating at weddings for both members and non-members of St. Luke’s; it is our hope that all couples might attend Sunday worship and know the joy of praising God and receiving his grace in the midst of a group of other believers.

PREPARATION TIMELINE

  1. Contacting the church office directly at 414-421-1670 to receive further information.
  2. Schedule an appointment with the Pastor as soon as possible to get acquainted and receive more information.
  3. Contact the church organist to reserve the date.

Prior To The Wedding:
  1. Contact the Pastor to setup a schedule for your pre-marriage counseling sessions.
Two Weeks Prior To The Wedding:
  1. Pay remaining facilities fees to the church office.
  2. Deliver your wedding license to the Pastor.
At The Rehearsal:
  1. Bring all honorariums for the Pastor, Organist, and any others.

Wedding Guidelines & Fees

  1. The use of the church and facilities fee is $300. A $100 non-refundable deposit is to accompany the official request form. The remaining $200 is due to the church two weeks prior to the wedding.               
  2. The Pastor reserves the rights to accept, reject, or modify this request.          
                    
  3. The recipient will be held responsible for total replacement value/repair costs of equipment or fixtures damaged property during use of the facility.                          
                            
  4. Recipient shall indemnify St. Luke’s Lutheran Church for any and all personal injury/liability occurring during  the events at this facility.  
                             
  5. St. Luke’s Lutheran Church will not be responsible for any set up or cleanup of church and facilities (except vacuuming and stocking restrooms). Any modifications to the facility must have approval from the Pastor. If the facility is not returned to its original condition prior to its use, an additional custodial charge may be billed at the custodial hourly rate. 

  6. It is customary to first request the services of our organist. If using another musician, St. Luke’s organist should be notified and has the right of refusal. An honorarium of approximately $150 will be paid to the organist the evening of the rehearsal.       
                       
  7. A soft cloth aisle runner can be provided for the fee of $40. This fee includes the price of use, cleaning and pressing. If your party would require the use of the aisle runner, please roll it back up at the end of the ceremony and leave it in the choir loft area at the rear of the church.                        
           
  8. The Pastor of St. Luke’s requires that all couples participate in pre-marriage counseling. The fee for taking the inventory used in these sessions is $35.                  

  9. An honorarium of $250 should be paid to the Pastor, on the evening of the rehearsal.
