Outreach & Service

Outreach & Service

St. Luke’s Outreach is tied closely to the mission of our congregation – “Members of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, in response to Christ’s love, reach out in service to each other, the community and the world.” Each month we have an “Outreach of the Month,” which helps us learn about a partner ministry or a need, and we plan an opportunity to serve and an opportunity to give.  We also have ongoing partner ministries, some of which are listed below, that we work with all year long. See the newsletter to learn about the current Outreach of the Month.

Hephatha Lutheran Church Partnership

Hephatha Lutheran Church, located in the inner city. Throughout the year we support this congregation in several ways. Do you want to learn more about what we do and how you can help? Click on the button to learn more.

Breaking The Chains

Location: Inside Felmers O. Chaney Correctional Institution Center

What is This?: This ministry prepares the men to be ready to return to society after incarceration.

What Do We Do?: We have individuals trained to be assisting ministers for worship and Bible study. There may be opportunities for others to receive this training in the future.

How Do I Get Involved?: Click the ‘I’m Interested!’ button above.

Who Can I Talk To With Questions? Contact the church office by E-MAIL or by phone (414) 421-1670. You may also speak to the task force committee members Brian Ziller or Greg Wajerski.

Mt. Meru Coffee

What is This? The Project provides small farmers with a fair price for their premium coffee. This fair-trade price provides an increase in farm income, allowing the farmers to educate their children, access healthcare, and support their families with dignity. Purchasing and drinking Mt. Meru Premium Tanzanian Coffee is the single most important way in which individuals, congregations and businesses can support thousands of family coffee farmers in Tanzania. Who Can I Talk To With Questions? Todd Beutin.

Compassion International Sponsored Child

What is This? We sponsor a child in Tanzania Kia. Through our donations Kia is able to receive an education, medical care, and key life skills training/mentoring.

Where Do We Get The Money? Through fundraising, Noisy Offerings, and group donations we are able to pay $38 a month to help this young man.

How Do I Give Now?
Place donations in the bucket located in the gathering space, Venmo money to @StLukes-LutheranChurch with “Kia” in the memo line, or mail a money to St. Luke’s (checks made out to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.)

Food Drives

What Do We Do?  We have a continuous collection of food items for First Lutheran Church in West Allis – we encourage you to bring a can of food when you come to church!   We occasionally have more focused food drives as well.

Who Can I Talk To With Questions? Contact the church office by E-MAIL or by phone (414) 421-1670.

The Giving Tree

At Christmas time, members are invited to take a card off the giving tree. Each card includes a child’s name or family with Christmas gift ideas. Gifts are bought, wrapped, and returned. Once all the cards have been taken everyone is invited to fill the tree with hats, scarves, mittens, and underwear to be distributed to our friends and Hephatha Lutheran Church.
